Job description:

Premium Powder Coating is looking for a dependable, safety-focused Driver / Warehouse & Shipping Support team member.

This is a hands-on position that combines commercial driving, warehouse work, shipping, loading, and order organization. This is not strictly a driving position. When not making deliveries or pickups, this person will be working in the warehouse alongside our shipping team and current leads.

The person in this role will help ensure finished orders are properly packed, stacked, accounted for, loaded, secured, and safely transported to our customers and vendors.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate company 26-ft box truck and flatbed truck for customer deliveries, pickups, and vendor transportation as needed.
  • Safely load and unload company trucks, customer trucks, and vendor trucks.
  • Properly strap, secure, and protect loads for safe transportation.
  • Inspect loads before transportation to ensure materials are properly secured and safe for travel.
  • Operate multiple types and sizes of forklifts for loading, unloading, staging, and material movement.
  • Learn and safely operate overhead cranes for loading, unloading, and moving material.
  • Pack, stack, wrap, band, and otherwise prepare finished orders for shipment.
  • Help organize finished orders and maintain clean, organized shipping and staging areas.
  • Assist with tracking completed orders and ensuring the correct parts and quantities are staged for pickup or delivery.
  • Work closely with our current team leads to support their knowledge of order status, shipping priorities, pickups, and deliveries.
  • Help coordinate the movement of orders through the warehouse and shipping areas.
  • Verify loads and orders before they leave the facility to help prevent missing, incorrect, or improperly loaded material.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and immediately report vehicle, trailer, or equipment concerns.
  • Maintain company vehicles and loading areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Assist with general warehouse and shipping responsibilities whenever driving is not required.
Driver Requirements
  • No CDL required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be comfortable safely operating a 26-ft box truck and flatbed truck.
  • Must provide a current, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) at the time of interview.
  • Must be able to meet all applicable DOT driver requirements for the company vehicles being operated.
  • Must successfully complete a DOT medical examination and maintain the required medical certification.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-employment drug testing.
  • Must participate in any ongoing drug and alcohol testing required for the position.
  • Must be able to safely complete vehicle inspections and identify obvious safety or equipment concerns.
Warehouse & Equipment Requirements
  • Safe and competent forklift knowledge and experience is required.
  • Must be comfortable operating different types and sizes of forklifts.
  • Must be willing and able to learn the safe operation of overhead cranes.
  • Experience loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and flatbeds is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with strapping and load securement is highly valuable.
  • Must understand or be willing to learn proper load placement, weight distribution, protection, and securement.
  • Must be comfortable handling large, heavy, and sometimes awkwardly shaped fabricated metal products.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of warehouse work, including packing, stacking, securing, and moving material.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who understands that getting an order to the customer safely and correctly starts before the truck leaves the building.
The right person will take ownership of proper packing, stacking, loading, load securement, order accuracy, and safe transportation.
This position will work closely with our existing leads and will be an important part of keeping finished orders organized and moving. Strong communication is important, as this person will help support the leads with knowledge of what orders are complete, what has been loaded, what has been delivered, and what still needs to move.
We need someone who is willing to drive when driving is needed and work in the warehouse when it isn't.

Preferred Experience
Previous experience in any of the following is highly valuable:
  • 26-ft box truck operation
  • Flatbed truck operation
  • Flatbed load securement and strapping
  • Forklift operation
  • Overhead crane operation
  • Shipping and receiving
  • Warehouse operations
  • Loading and unloading fabricated metal products
  • Order staging, packing, and inventory/order tracking
This is a non-CDL position; however, it is a commercial driving role. Candidates must be able to meet the applicable medical, drug-testing, safety, and driving requirements associated with operating our company vehicles.
